August Birchbox Review

August Birchbox Review

How is it August already?! This was my 4th month as a Birchboxer and definitely my favourite so far!

Birchbox worked closely with no less than 10 amazing Etsy designers this month to offer a selection of different box designs. I got this little stunner from The Lovely Drawer who design and make customisable prints and wedding stationery.

Dr. Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask

Inside was the usual 5 items, including two full size items! The first was this Dr. Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask. I’ve never heard of Dr. Botanicals before but loved this before I even opened it just because of the packaging! I’ve never used a sleeping mask before but like the concept, you put it on before bed after cleansing your face and it works it’s magic overnight.

The Dirty Little Secret Eyeshadow Stick

The second full size product this month was also the one item that I got to choose which colour I wanted. I opted for The Dirty Little Secret Eyeshadow Stick in Gold Plated. This is a really creamy eyeshadow crayon that can also double up as a highlighter. It’s really easy to use and has a lovely shimmery pigment to it. I found it isn’t totally crease free but using a little eye primer and some setting powder helps to prolong its staying power.

CLĒ Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder

For the eagle eyed among you the other August Birchbox product I’m wearing in my picture is the CLĒ Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder. I had heard of the Younique lip powders before but never had a chance to try them so when I discovered this item I was excited to see if they work! They really are as they sound, powder in the tube which transforms to a lip tint when you put it on- what is this sorcery?! This colour is Blushing Peach which is a more orange-y shade than I would usually choose for myself but actually worked alright with my choice of lip crayon. Similar to the lip crayon this is also multi-use and can also be applied to cheeks or used as an eyeshadow. It was a lot of fun putting it on, but wasn’t as long-lasting as I like from a lippy. Definitely scores points for the drama of applying it though!

Rituals The Ritual of Happy Buddha Foaming Shower Gel

I love the name of this one for a start, it always puts a little smile on my face! I’m really enjoying using this foaming shower gel, it has such a gorgeous uplifting scent and the container provides a positive start to my day (when I’d rather still be tucked up in bed!). At £8.50 for a 200ml full size it’s a bit more pricey than I’d usually go on my shower gel, but a lovely treat to enjoy using from this month’s Birchbox!

Number 4 Sugar Spray

I was super excited when I found another No 4 product in this month’s Birchbox. I received the smoothing balm in the June Anniversary Box (you can read about it here) and although my hair is very straight naturally I love using it before blow-drying my hair as it smells lush! The sugar spray in this month’s box is more up my street as I like to use a sugar/ salt spray to rough my hair up a bit when it’s freshly washed, especially if I’m wanting to put it up. At £20 for a full size 145ml spray this one might have to go on the Christmas list though! This month’s favourite item was a really tough choice, but because I had discovered No 4 through Birchbox and this product is perfect for me it just pips first place!
