Anniversary Birchbox Review

Anniversary Birchbox Review

I received my second ever Birchbox this week and it just happened to coincide with their 5th Anniversary- Happy Birthday Birchbox 🎂🎁🎉

To celebrate, this month’s items were sent in a special edition tin. I assumed it would be about the same size as the usual Birchbox so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually bigger than I expected, so I’ve already started thinking about what else I can use it for.

Here’s what I received this month and my thoughts…

Whittard Teabags

First up are these 3 individual teabags from Whittards, perfect for a little treat! They’ve also thrown in a voucher for 20% off when you spend £25 so if you find a favourite you can enjoy some money off.

Polaar Sun Fluid

If I’m honest this is my least favourite item this month. It’s a handy size tube to carry out and about for re-application and it dries quickly. However it stays a bit too shiny for me and I’m not in love with the smell so I’ll probably keep this as a back up in my bag for any surprise sun!

N4 Smoothing Balm

I have naturally straight hair and when I have tried to use hair oil or smoothing products in the past my hair has ended up looking greasy or flat so I didn’t have much hope for this. I tried it this morning and applied it on to wet hair and it smelt beautiful! To be honest I didn’t see that it made a lot of difference but it is really designed to tame frizzy hair so if you have used it on frizzy hair I’d love to know what you think! It didn’t make my hair flat though so I will continue to use it as it smells so good!

ella EDEN pressed eyeshadow

There was a choice of colour in this eyeshadow this month and I opted for this rich brown colour. There is a nice shimmer to it but I would like it to be a bit more pigmented as I was hoping it would be a lovely dark crease colour. It seems to build well though so I’ll give it a proper go for my next evening out!

Lord & Berry Strobing Pencil

I love a bit of highlighting and have to say I have a strong favourite already in the form of Younique’s liquid highlighter. This works really nicely though and being a pencil means I can be a bit more precise in smaller areas like my Cupid’s bow (just above the center of my top lip). It’s ideal for taking out for a highlight top-up and although I probably won’t be breaking up with my favourite this is super handy and gives a nice finish.

⭐️ Benefit the POREfessional Pearl Primer ⭐️

This is my star item this month as it works so beautifully. You can really see the difference it makes under make up (left is foundation without it in case it’s not obvious!). You can also use it alone if you’re having a make up free day but want a little brightening pick me up. It’s definitely the item I’d like to keep using but at £27.50 it’s quite a pricey full size product. Boots have a smaller travel size available for just £10.50 which is slightly easier on the purse strings!

All in all I’m happy with my Birchbox this month. The Primer is my winner and the tin will definitely find a new use- let me know what you’re doing with yours! I’m off for a cup of mango & bergamot tea! Cheers!
